If the WordBanker Mike test reports that no sound is heard from the microphone the first thing to do is make sure the microphone is not muted by opening the windows mixer. These can either be done by clicking the windows in the system tray or going to the WordBanker main menu and clicking Tools > Test Microphone > "Windows Mixer".
As above, make sure the microphone mute button is not checked. Please note that the Windows mixer may look slightly different to this as it will depend on the make of your sound card.
Recording volume is very low By clicking the "Advanced you should get to the following window
Getting a balance right for your microphone can be tricky. If the record volume is too low you can click the "Microphone Boost" button as above. However you may then find the volume much too loud which will create a distorted recording in which case you will have to reduce the recording level on the mixer.
If you record a word but are unable to play it you need to start by testing wether your Windows setting are correct. The simplest way of doing this is by using the built in WordBanker Mike test utility. From the Main Menu click Tools > Test Microphone. For more details on this utility click here.

On rare circumstances this can be when WordBanker has had trouble detecting your Microphone input. The following page can be found by clicking Tools > Options and selecting the tab marked "Misc" at the top.
Microphone Input This only relates to recording words so if you have no problems recording there is no need to change this setting.
In order to record words WordBanker needs to know which is the setting used by your sound card for the microphone input. WordBanker would normally detects the correct setting during installation but as all sound cards have names for these inputs it is possible that some sound cards are detected wrongly. |
