The WordBanker Microphone Test is a simple utility to check whether your computer is receiving a signal from your microphone and can be found by going to the main menu and clicking Options > Microphone Test.  When you are ready , record a word and the click "Stop". If there is no signal from the microphone you will be informed. In this case you will need to check the setting using the windows mixer.

If you are still having problems, try using the Windows sound recorder to test the recording. Click the "Windows Recorder" button  (shown above) and the following window should open

Click the "record" button,  say a few words and then click the "Stop" button.  If when you click the "Play" button you still hear nothing then the problem is definitely not with WordBanker but with your computer or microphone . Try the following

1.Make sure you microphone is plugged into the correct socket on your computer
2.Make sure the "Mute" button is not checked.
3.Make sure the record volume is turned up to the maximum
4.Make sure your microphone is switched on. Some headsets have a switch attached to the cable.
5.Try a different microphone. Their cables and plugs can be very feeble and so are prone to loose connections or damaged wires.

If all this fails you may need to take your in for repair or get further advise from a computer engineer.
