Testing

Sessions and Rounds

Tests are done in sessions of 20 words. When you start a test it will begin at "Round 1". Once the 20 words of Round 1 have been answered you will automatically be taken into "Round 2" where you will be re tested on all the words you got wrong in the first round. A session is only complete when you have translated all 20 words correctly.

If you have no idea of the answer then click this button to find out. This is equivalent to getting the answer wrong.

Banking

If you translate a word correctly 3 times IN THE FIRST ROUND in 3 separate sessions then you will be given the option to bank that word.

Round Details

Each test page gives a summary of how you are doing in your current test.

Finishing a Test

When you have successfully completed a test you will be informed and taken back to the main menu. Any credits or banked words will have been counted and will show up in your summary.

If you click the "Finish" button before completing the test then all credits and banked words will not count. You will be warned of this before proceeding.

General Notes

Gender

If the gender of the word is not obvious and you need to know the gender (i.e. if you are using the "Type The Answer" testing method) then for the purpose of these tests the word will be masculine.

Alternative Words

One of the many frustrations of learning a language is that when you learn a word you can be sure that the person you are talking to will use another word for the same thing.

For standard categories, in cases where there is more than one common translation for a word you will be shown an "Alternative" translation. When this alternative pops up it is worthwhile just taking a quick look at it. You won't be testing on it but glancing at it each time will help to lodge it in your mind.

If you find the alternative word is being used more than the word we have given, then it is easy to change it by editing standard categories .
